OK, I just decided to brak out the adhesive sanding kit. This thing is very cool Bill. It would be rally great if there were different sized bases and discs for various sized hollows. I didn't start coarse enough as you can see (30 micron,15 micron), but I can see the potential. I think this blade is ready for a scotchbrite or equivelant finish at this point.

You did a great job!Quote:

What is an adhesive sanding disk? Did I see that in Bill's book?
Thanks Joe. That was after only about 5 minutes with each grit. I did the other side starting with 40 grit and it's even better. I don't think I can get a true mirror finish because I did not take out all the pitting and scratches with a coarser grit. Bill, do you always use these wet? Should I be using kerosene with those discs?Quote:

I was thinking about that. How does "How Straight Razors Ruined My Marriage" sound for a title?Quote:

I decided to try and work the blade a little more with the sanding discs starting at 60 micron (about 220 grit). I was able to get most of the pitting out and proceeded down to 15 micron. I don't have anything finer to hand sand it with, so I shot it at this stage. Off to the store to get some finer paper. This is a picture after 15 micron. I am going to try and "mirror" it the best I can.

That's a great result for such a coarse grit. Is this all done by hand?
How many steps between 60 and 15 micron, and howlong did it take?
