Scale question Boker
So folks I am in a quandary, I have an Boker 386 barbers notch that I am doing a restore on. The scales are wedgeless black plastic, there are no external engravings or markings. I thought these scales were replacements but after seeing a handful of ebay auctions like this.
Vintage H. BOKER STRAIGHT RAZOR King Cutter? black/box - eBay (item 370307441038 end time Dec-22-09 17:11:02 PST)
I am beginning to wonder if perhaps they are original.
As I said before there are no external markings, but after removing the pin I found "82B" in a raised script inside the scales.
They have no external wedge, instead they have raised sections at the non pivot end which serve as a built in wedge.
When I rub the scales I get a odd odor, and they take a nice shine.
So the why I was planning on making some replacements from bone.If these are original I will reinstall them. I like to keep things original if possible.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
I'm off to finish polishing the blade.
