very nice work indeed on those pipes, what kind of wood did you use, some type of burl? some scales made out of that wood !!!

Sorry if I just :HJ this thread, but I think it's relevant:
What cleaning products, if any, would you use when you clean in between the tang and the scales with a floss pick? Rubbing alcohol?
I use whatever polish is currently open and on the bench, usually Semichrome, but Mass, etc. will work fine. Dip the floss is the polish and go to town... keeping an eye on the blade at all times during this procedure helps cut down on the first aid practice. As does putting tape on it... ask me how I know!

When I am doing restoration, I always try to preserve the original scales if possible. Sometimes you may not have a choice but to remove them or replace them, but particularly in heirloom razors, it is nice to preserve them whenever you can.
