First Restore: W&B in Red Micarta

Thanks for all the information and help. It made this project a lot easier.

This Wade & Butcher blade originally came to me with rust pits and broken bakelite scales. Red Linen Micarta and wedge material came from Texas Knifes.

That looks great, I like the layered look of the wedge. The blade and scales look great.

Does the wedge have any wedge to it? Not to worry, I have made several razors without any taper and they are still working. Over time I have gravitated toward and found that a tapered wedge tends to work a little better.

I really like the shape and overall fit and finish of your work it is very nice.

It is wedged, but the outside is black so it may just look flat in the picture. I figure it will start to rotate if it's just flat and not glued in. I really like the toughness of Micarta. I may make the next one thinner. Also, the grain is a bit exagerated, in real life it doesn't pop out so much.

Very well done. Thanks for sharing. I have a Dovo in white micarta and the scales on it are thicker than any other razor I have seen. Looking forward to seeing your future work.

Looks like you've set yourself a standard there! Great first restore, & you've not picked the easiest material. I do like a layered wedge.
