Default Finally got around to making the Stratocaster strop handle & fixtures.

If anyone remembers I wanted to make a hanging strop for the Stratocaster inspired scales before putting it up on e-bay.

Well, I finally got around to making the strop handle and fixtures that were to my liking. To be honest, this is the second set of fixtures and the third handle. So I got a little better with practice.

The handle is Purpleheart, finished with tung oil and buffed to a semi-gloss finish. The little hole at the bottom is for a pin matching the one on the razor. I can't peen the pin or make the washer because the familly is sleeping.

The box too is almost done, just have to add contoured cutout and flocking.

I'll be asking Tony Miller to turn this handle and fixtures into a strop.

What do you guys think of this handle and fixtures? Do they go well with the razor?

    Thumbs up Yeah

I knew you'd come up with something truly awesome and beyond my ability to even conjure what it mught be. Super job Vlad. Just do me a favour and never get back 'in the box'. It's so much fun to watch you play around out there in the open.

Thanks guys for the appreciation. I could use the encouragement.

Actually Rich, I am a software development consultant for a living, but lately have been without a contract so have had plenty of time to hone up on my woodworking skills.

I have always enjoyed graphic arts, design and creative activities. Just haven't figured out how to make a living out of it yet. Maybe one day .

I must say that as good as the photos look they don't do justice to the wood. This grain is luminescent under bright lights and plays like mother of perl, has a nice 3D effect to it.

I spoke to Tony Miller tonight and will be mailing him the handle and the fixture tomorrow. Can't wait to see it turned into a nice strop.

Bill, once all is done it will go on e-bay with the razor. With the way new ideas are received in the market you will probably be able to get it for good .
