can't get my pins tight
So I decided to try and repin a razor, and I've been tapping......and tapping.......and tapping.......and tapping, I sure didn't think the pins were too tall when I started but this thing still whips open like a butterfly knife, am I doing something wrong or what?

Been there and done that. My guess is you snipped them a bit too long.
Check out gssixgun's tutorial on re-pinning in the SRP Wiki.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Make sure you're peening correctly. You need to aim to mushroom the pin.
If you conclude that the problem is that they are too long, you can shorten them. Protect the area with electrical tape then file them down. Once you've done that peen away.

Thanked: 3795Did you anneal the brass rod before the pinning? Pinning is harder (literally) if you don't.

Pinning is one of those things that sounds simple and straightforward but it does take some finesse. If not done right you can tap till next year. For many if they don't get it right away they resort to a bigger tapper and that leads to disaster.
