Help locating metal
Hi guys, was out in the garage earlier, buiding a lean to for our house and started daydreaming at the same time, dangerous i know haha .
It crossed my mind that i havn't done much metal work recently so i decided i would have to do some .
Id love to have a go at buiding myself a razor, one major problem, i have no idea where im gonna get the steel .
If anyone could point me in the right direction that'd be great, i ideally only want enough to make one or two razors so im not keen on buying a few meters, i'm more after getting 12-15 inches.
Also Rough prices would be amazing, as i havn't got much to throw around atm.
Thanks in advance

Check your tool box for an old bastard or mill file.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_(tool)
File steel is already hard as heck...
you should be able to skip heat treating
at the expense of more difficult grinding.
Knife forums and hand made knife groups can
also provide steel. Many machine shops
have steel stock that has the right carbon content.
This has been discussed in this workshop a
number of times so give it a search.

Check with a local welding shop if you don't have a metal supply near you.. here there is a place called Alro Steel and I bought some O2 About 24" x 1 1/4" x 1/2" for about 10 bucks since it was considered a "scrap" piece.
