What a magnificant straight

Just got this beauty from Bill. It shaves better than it looks and it looks stunning. See the attached.

It's definately a nice looking razor.
Coming from Bill that is no surprise.
No doubt the edge of this razor
would just :D at even the toughest
of whiskers.

I would love to see one with curly maple
scales. Curly maple is BEAUTIFUL.......

Glad to hear that. Though I can't commit to buying
a razor with curley maple scales - I can start saving
for it.

Spalted maple sounds interesting - I've never heard
of it.

Basically, it's rotted wood. Mostly from the part of the tree that was below ground level. At least that is what it is as relayed to me from other knife makers. It has great figure and was once considered useless because it is so soft. Now that the stuff can be stabilized, it has found its way into a ton of new uses. Knife handles being one of them. Stabilization involves putting the wood in a heated vacuum chamber using polymers and such to keep it from warping or shrinking ever again.
