I made a post about a week ago about my German made antique store find and wasn't sure i was going to keep it well after much encouragement to stick with it I decided to restore and rebuild... my first step was to remove clean and polish the blade, that's all done and here it is. Next im going to make some scales, as soon as all the materials arrive.
P.S. one of my careless accident! looked up at TV and whoops sliced tip of finger!

small cut bled for an hour but its all good I wrapped it up gloved it and went back to work. thanks glad I didn't post it and have everyone tell me I ruined it.

The razor looks great! That must have taken some time? Nice job.....but now lets talk about that coke nail on that pinky finger....ya might want to hit that dremmel.
Good catch. I work in a job that I need fingernails as a tool (as weird as that sounds) I cut every other weekend (that was a day early) thanks for all the praise on the blade it took about 4 hours. Now I'm on to my scales... Wood just got here expect pics soon!
Keep up the good work. I have two oxford blades sitting in oil, waiting for scales. I'm using bubinga on the first one.
Four hours? That is great for four hours work, after four hour of sanding my attempts have not produced much... I wish I could sit down and do that...good luck with the rest of the blade! Keep posting pics!Quote:

I "cut" them and it was so cool!
I then went to pin the thing and found way to many problems! I put holes in the scales I shouldn't have, The spacer didn't fit to well after the CA, and the razor doesn't center at all when its closed it does fine until its all the way closed the hooks all the way to the right resting on the inside of the scales, and that's after I had to use a bit more of a push from another Microfastners nut next to the washer on the inside.
What I did learn was a whole lot of patience and what not to do next time, tho I will have to work up the motivation to do it again, so now I'm putting the scales as a priority for antique purchases.
All in all its done I will send it out to get honed (maybe Lynn, so I can get an opinion on why its not centering.) But thanks for looking.
The Materials: the wood is olive wood from Bethlehem and the spacer is holly, brass inlays and brass pinning all the way around.
