Default Extreme spine wear, Near Wedge or What?

    Hi,
I bought the razor in the picture because I found the shape interesting and a bit unusual (especially the spine).
As I hope you can see the "bevel" and the "spine wear" are very large, leaving an area in the middle where the blade is slightly hollow.

    My questions to you are:
    - Is this an overhoned piece of junk not worth restoring or it is the way it is by design?
    - How would you go about restoring it? Just a good cleaning and hone without tape maintaining the current look? Or something more radical?
    - Do you happen to know what "Peruvian Steel" is? The stamp on the tang reads "Charles Pickslay's Peruvian Steel razor Royal York Works Sheffield"

    Thank you very much!

this razor for sure has seen a lot of honing.
You can easily remedy by regrinding it. Some of our restorers can do that for you if you do not have the tools.

Nice blade. It's a beauty. So long as the blade is sharp at the heel and tip it is honed proper. Only a shave test will tell. This is not unusual hone wear for a near wedge or true wedge bevel set.
