Need help with an older Dubl Duck
Hello gents,
No experience with restoration yet, but want to try and polish up and older razor that is close to being shave ready. The blade has a few minor rust spots and pits with a fair amount of hone wear, but should be an easy first project. I'm planning on just using a small dremel tool to clean it up, probably with a soft wire head, and then later using my various stones to sharpen it up a bit. Any suggestions or advise? I've watched a couple of videos on restoration and feel pretty competent with the basic idea. Just looking to avoid any major mistakes.

Watch your direction of rotation is always away from the edge & be aware it is easy to cook the edge with either excess pressure or duration.

Dremels can be deadly! I strongly recommend a magnetic jig to hold your blade if you use a Dremel. You may get more scratches then you want using the wire brush. Hand sanding is a lot safer. Fine grit Silicone Carbide paper is available from Auto Refinishing stores. Good luck with your Duck - I really like mine.

My advice is to skip the Dremel and use #0000 steel wool and the metal polish of your choice.

Dremels can destroy a razor before quick, be careful!
