G10? Update, scales made & using handtools. Part 1.
Hi,
I just finished making my first scales.
The scales are made of G10 and I completed everything using hand tools as I did not have any power tools worthwhile that I could use.
The wedge is also made out of G10. I stand corrected, I made the wedge from Micarta (which was also kindly donated by ‘EisenFaust’) and not G10, I should never assume
I used the original brass inner washers where it abuts on to the tang and between the scales.
Many thanks to SRP user ‘EisenFaust’ who kindly donated the G10, Micarta and the pins and washers as this made the project possible for me.
Thanks for looking.

Part 2, finished product.
The scales in my opinion look great and fit tight and central and far superior to the original.
Unfortunately my crappy cell phone camera does not do them justice and any imperfection you may notice could be the light reflecting upon some mineral oil that was not completely wiped away.
Thanks.

Thanked: 1072Very nice work. I've heard G10 is hard work even with power tools.
There must have been a LOT of elbow grease in those scales.
