These pics are after a few hours of bleach boiling and a bit more cut down to expose the inside of the bone before it started...
The piece is just under 7 inches overall now...

Honestly right here is where you could start the process by simply going to a good pet store and buying a Dog Bone as they start right about where I am at... The dog bones have been steam cleaned and sterilized the only difference is they are Cow and not Bison :)
But yeah if you wanted to save time start there...
gssixgun , This theme is very interesting to me. I yet didn't do of a bone of the handle, but the desire is. I will watch this theme. Thanks.
Awesome thread, please continue. I have been wanting to know how to process bone for a while now. Thanks
Thanks for sharing - it's always good to see stuff getting made from scratch. My next project in the queue will be fitted with camel bone scales and since there isn't too many camels in my neighbourhood I've taken the easy optin and bought pre-processed.
Look forward to seeing the end result!
Small hold up in the process.... SNOW hehehe been out at 4am for the past few days keeping the road open, hoping tomorrow I can play in the shop a bit
Work before fun, I hate it!
Very interesting, can't wait to see the process and results.
