    Default mammoth ivory and abalone.

Here's one I put together for John Crowley this weekend. The scales are mammoth ivory and abalone with nickel silver pinning and wedges. The scale liners are solid titanium and the pinning is all stainless steel.

wewf, top class stuff all the way. Question though, are those things I see as pins the little hex screws that are commonly used on pocket knives?

Sweet! How did you peen the inox? Did you actually use pop rivets and file off the excess?

Yes, that's the type of hardware frequently used on small pocket knives. This project took a lot longer than most because the materials were a bit tricky to work and I sure couldn't afford to screw anything up with these materials, LOL.

Looks like I'll have to do some experimenting with'em as I like the idea of using stainless materials.

One question if you don't mind .The shell ,did you cut it yourself or did you buy it already cut and flattened
    Kind regards Peter

I cut the shell myself. It's nasy work but it's the only way to get the best abalone in the sizes and shapes you want or need, in my opinion. The downside is how hard it is on tools, you need to use a respirator while working it and if you don't examine the shells carefully before buying them, you never know what you'll get or whether it will be very solid or so full of worm holes as to be totally useless. I'm tempted to start buying it pre-cut. It's probably cheaper that way.
