Success with old bone scales
Hi All,
Just thought I'd share this if you don't already know.
I was rumaging around my box of bits and found an old set of plain black bone scales. They were a bit tatty but the perfect size for a razor I have.
I took out all blemishes with 120, 240, 400 & 600 grit first.
I then mixed some fabulustre with metal polish paste and hand polished to a high gloss. It is very quick and there is no need to go beyond 600 grit before you polish.
I did initially use my dremel buffing wheel but it is far too agressive, hand buffing / polishing is all that is required.
So I went from a dull, scratched and lightly chipped set of scales to a smooth glossy finish in about 30 minutes. Pic attached
