Thread: What is the best polish for cleaning blades with gold etching.

What would be the best polish for cleaning blades that have a drawing on the blade. I want to give mine some new shine but don't want the etching to fade away.

These are the razors.

there is no such polish, anything abrasive will take off partially or fully the gold wash depending on the polish and how it is used.
I guess best way to go about cleaning the blade would be a cue tip with some Maas, Flitz, or Mothers Aluminum& Mag adng entle work around the gold wash.

At least the razor looks pretty good to begin with! You could also try cutting electrical tape and sticking it on over the gold wash while you polish around the rest.

Thank you both. I'll be very careful indeed with the electrical tape. And use a cue tip to make sure that I don't touch the logo.

painters tape would work better for taping exact lines, there is a scratchless buffing compound sold on some knife making websites; the stuff i have is pink (hence: pink scratchless). Won't remove scratch marks, but will shine a blade really well, but won't remove etching either.

Thanks tiddle. The painters tape is a good idea. Much easier to tape with than the electrical tape. Will visit the hardware store this week to get it and will take a look at that buffing compound aswell.
