Bolster Transfer Question
Well needless to say I have to transfer some bolsters and I was wondering if just gluing them in place will be enough to hold them or do I have to cover them with something like epoxy or poly? Transferring bolsters is a first for me. I was planning on making some ebony scales and I really don't like the feel of finishes other than oils or waxes on wooden scales. I guess if I can't just glue them in place would a thin coat of poly be enough? If I had the skill and equipment to embed the bolsters I would do that instead, but since I don't not really another option. Also has anyone ever tried pressing bolsters into wood. I know bolsters are thin, but was wondering if you could steam the wood to soften them would that be enough without warping the wood? Any info or suggestion are welcome.
