Y'know as Harley pointed out, I originally posted warthog scales and when I posted the pix I said walrus ...... Now I can't remember whether they are walrus or warthog. Sending a PM to RW and see if he can clear up the mystery. :)

They are pre- an elephant ivory and possibly mammoth I key by the look of the scales. Walrus ivory is very hard to get and warthog ivory isn't straight enough. I've tried warthog ivory and it would have to be a very small razor, indeed. They're highly curved and if you could get 4 inches, you'd be lucky. It's also very hard to cut and work. I wouldn't recommend it.
How about this blast from the past Robert. I was thinking the ivory with the pearl inlays was something different and could the small piece in between the 3 piece pearl/ivory/pearl scales be warthog ?

I haven't run across much. Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places :)
