Saitou,
I bought what was available at Bunnings, roughly 100 grit through to 1200.
I also used a kit that attaches to a power drill, it came with a green and a white compound., then I finished it of with a hand polish.

I will try your suggestion and visit the local sign shop.

Here are some pics of the finished project.
I think the wedge might be a tad thick and I need more practice on the wood finish but all in all I am pretty happy with my first attempt.
It's a Bengall 5/8" (I think/hope I got it right), the scales are Tasmanian Oak finished with marine varnish with brass pins.
Cheers

Thanks Iasonas,
I forgot to add that I would like to get it honed.
Fellow Aussies who do you recommend.
After that I need to purchase a strop, watch videos and learn more on technique and then I should be right to try my first SR shave.
Cheers

I haven't tried Oz yet but I will soon and he's in NSW too. Check the Members Services section in the classifieds and look for onimaru55

Oz is a long way from Coota but his honing is worth the extra price of a couple of post bags.
