Anyone make replacement frameback blades?
I have a A.D. Arbenz frameback razor kinda like a Coultre knock off maybe? Anyways does anyone or can someone make replacement blades for these? (I.e. laser cut them, etc).
I put the NOS blade that came in the box on it, the old one as you can see is honed down considerably.
Thanks
Aaron

I suspect any custom blade maker could do this. The lack of geometry would make this a fairly trivial task.
It won't be cheap though. Because the blade needs to be fitted precisely to the frame.
Which raises the question: why would you?
You have 2 blades in good condition, judging by the pics. You will probably not last as long as those blades.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

true, but in this case, you already have 2 blades for the frameback.
You can only replace them with the exact same shape. It's literally more of the same.
Unless you want say 7 ideantical blades but from different types of steel (1095, O1, Wootz, etc) you're just having more identical blades.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I have a few of the LeCoulter type razors and need blades also. I am checking out a lazer cutter place that I have used and may be able to give some hope after the new year begins. Who knows!
Good luck in the meantime, I need two!

PS. Arbenz is the British registered company that sold that type of razor. I have five different tang stamps along the way. Seems they had a distributor in every shaving country!Last edited by Geezer; 12-17-2012 at 10:59 PM.

Thanked: 1185Somebody with a precision grinder might come in handy too ? I got a bid in on an old rusty one of these. I have no idea what the balde looks like but I imagine it round at the top ? Or square ? I saw another at auction with 4 blades just this week.
Ahhh 21 hrs. left and over my price range.

Your turn!
If there is an interest in New made blades, I have continued the quest. I have located a laser cutter and gotten a quote. I have located a world class, razor qualified, heat treater and gotten a quote. I have checked the cost of materials and...
There better be a market for the blades.
To go any further, I must know and have firm requests for about 15 blades at $15 each. Before I pull the trigger, I will have money in escrow from those folks
Bye the way that does not meet all the expenses by far!

Let's hear from you. PM is preferred.
I have done other good samaritan things in the past and gotten a bit leary of pie in the sky.
