Well it has been about 3 years since I last used my potter's wheel and since it was a hot Sunday I decided to start throwing on it. I got to say it took me about 3 hours (it has to be the rust). I made skuttle that is going to have a handle bucket style, the second piece is a soap bowl which is missing the lid (I will make it tomorrow) and the third is a brush handle for a silver tip badger knot that I bought. Do what do you guys think?
That looks like a neat set! I really like the look of the scuttle with those handles, very cool.
Update us with a picture of lather pouring over the edge when you get a chance.
Is that going to be laquered or otherwise sealed?

no porcelain needs to be bisque fired and then glaze fires at ~2400f
The glaze it's going to be something like these with some black
First is a carbon tapping glaze that can have a metallic some to it and the second one is a spoudamine that usually is of a Cramer texture when applied to porcelain bodies.

My daughter is an art teacher whose specialty is pottery. I think your stuff is awesome. Full speed ahead, damn the torpedos.......

You definitely still have your throwing mojo after a three year break. I tried last year after not throwing for 35 years - did not do nearly as well as you did. I think there is a market for your work. Please post pictures after glaze fire.

That was my point - sorry I wasn't clear. It was fun to get muddy again, though. A community ed class - just low fire, electric kiln, etc. - If I had a chance to get back into stoneware and reduction firing, it would be tempting.Quote:

As a thought, I have a ceramic brush..it clatters. If you were to make a groove half round going around the bristle end; you would be able to add a black neoprene rubber "O-ring" to prevent the clatter / chipping.

Here is another shuttle. Today I learned that this might be on the smaller range but should still be functional. Update my first pieces will be finished by the beginning of next month.
