New aquisitions.......take a look.... recent wedge convert goes on buying spree !!!
Picked these up yesterday at a local antique shop for $30 for #s 1, 2 and 3.
1) Charles Jackson, Sheffield, horn handle, 8/8 MEGA WEDGE! semi restored(by me) If I had to guess how hard this is based on sharpening time, well, it had a tiny nick in the blade, I mean like a grain of sand. It took me 30 mins on the 1000 grit to get it out!! This is gettin the C.J. ground off and my initials stamed on it instead. S P L Also I'm waiting for some new silver Dovo pins to come in the mail.
2) Wade & Butcher, WASHINGTON RAZOR, CELEBRATED Washington Razor engraved on blade, 6/8 wedge
3) P. Kegler and Co. Boston, other side says " Franklinite Steel, NJ."
Handles are horn but trash, making a new set from ebony or desert ironwood, quarter hollow, 6/8 wedge. not much on french points but this one I like for some reason.
4) actually payed $50 for this one, Frederick Reynolds Sheffield, frameback, horn handle dyed to imitate tortoise shell, heck of a nice polish, I think 6/8 or 7/8,
THIS IS ONE HEAVY BLADE FOLKS!!! and man does it shave great.
