Thanked: 4Removing a smile
or at least turning it into a subtle grin.
I haven't bought a bench grinder yet...
I've been progressively adding tape to the spine and grinding away the smile on a dmt 1200, looking for more of a smirk.
This seems to be work, albeit inefficient. I suspect that this old wedge was hones for many years on a narrow hone.
I could use a few tips???
Thanks

Learn to hone the razor with the current smile, they shave great! I would not grind it away.

Thanked: 4I will take your advice more fully next time. I've alredy reduce the smile to a mild grin and am now using a rolling motion with an x-pattern.
Feels more similar to finding the edge with a chisel of knife this way.

Thanked: 416some razors were actually made with a smile. A smile is often a good thing and shave like a champ. A frown on the other hand..... never good!

Yeah, I love smiling razors! However, taping the spine and doing circles or x-patterns would work.

I was going to mention that some were made that way on purpose...too late again!
I like the way a smile shaves on a wedge I have.
