    Default Protecting the Shapton Investment

Hi my name is Icedog and I'm a Shaptonaholic.
I got the HAD real bad and bought the entire Glass Stone line plus the Glass Diamond Lapping Plate (GDLP). Not being thrilled with the little cardboard boxes in which the Glass Stones are sold, I designed and Built this box for the stones and GDLP:

(I am awaiting my last three stones). The box also holds my nice Belgian stone set and my diamond lapping paste and my strop treatment stuff. In the next picture:

you can see that I used my quarter inch glass lapping plate as a lid. My original design called for a half inch glass plate but I wanted to hurry up and get this done So I will modify it when the half inch plate gets in. Anyway, Basil likes it, what do you kids think?

duuuuude, that's not a cheap box-o-hones there. Just one question... are they as good as everyone says.

I am very pleased with the system as a whole. Individually I believe there are many fine sharpening stones (note the Belgian blue and coticule in the same box).
Here's my design drawing. If anyone would like it on disc just PM me and I'll be happy to send you one:

awesome job, Icedog! I've been determined to craft my own hardwood Shapton box for my stones and GDLP going on a few months now. My Shapton 6000 grit (just for fun) arrived today. That means.........I'm the 30K away from having all grits from 500 on up. Shame on me!

Very nice design. Thanks for posting that.
