well if there is room on the list.... I'll make a decent spatula (all the cool kitchen utensils were claimed already) of a double arrow
    Be just and fear not.

    Welcome aboard, Jim.
I'd rather shave with a spatula than with a steak knife.

Has the idea of offering/selling the contest razors to Noobs (after the contest) been considered? It would seem that after a razor has been evaluated and found to be shave ready by a panel of experienced shavers it might be a good starter for new shavers. The best of the bunch will probably be up to Honemeister standards and the rest should still be pretty good. The contestants could either recover their initial investment....OR.....they could help a couple dozen new guys get a proper start with a sharp razor. Just a thought..

    That's a thoughtful suggestion, Bill.
It's up to the participants, I guess. I think most guys would want to shave with it when it arrives back, to find out if the edge is still as good as when they send it out. I can imagine that some participants might go overboard on pastes, trying to produce a freakishly sharp razor, that has poor longevity. I think some guys will just send in their best "everyday" honing effort, while others are going to take risks, keen on winning. We'll just have to wait and see.

If someone wishes to sell or donate it afterwards, I see no problem. They might have a modest collectors value though, because I'm putting other scales on and there will be only 25 of them.

    Best regards,
    Bart.

Collectibles? With that "2009 SRP Honing Championship Entry #xx" gold leafed in the scales? Absolutely!

I vote we donate the razors to SRP, have them all touched up by a pro (Glen, Lynn, some other moderator?), and then have the razors sold to newbs (exclusively) for something like $25 or $30 and have to proceeds go to support the running of SRP (kind of like the raffles we used to have to support the site).

That's not a bad idea Mark, but do n00bs really deserve a Double Arrow? Maybe as a gift.

I'm all for raffling them like in the old days after any needed touch ups had been made but it should be up to the individual contestant to decide the fate of their blades... i cannot speak for what another should do with the property they pay for.
