Finishing Hones
I have decided to compile a list of finishing hones (defined by myself as a hone that is commonly used as a final hone before pastes or stropping). Hopefully you guys can chime in, because I'd love to hear other options that I haven't heard of, and I am unsure about the grit range on some hones. I have decided to do this because I am still new to this and I think that it's fascinating how many options there are for finishing hones.
Anyway, here's what I've got so far:
- Belgian Coticule
- Barber Hone
- Escher
- Thuringian
- Spyderco Ultra Fine
- Chinese 12k
- Kitayama
- Nakayama
- Shapton GlassStone 16k
- Shapton GlassStone 30k
- Shapton Professional 15k
- Shapton Professional 30k
- Shapton M5 12k
- Awase To (Japanese Natural)
- Ohira (Japanese Natural)
- Naniwa Superstone 10k
- Naniwa Chosera 10k
- Arkansas Translucent

Wow your going to need a lot of paper. There are all those barbers hones out there which are mostly finishing hones. There's probably hundreds of them like the Swatys.
No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Tam O'Shanter could probably be included and although it might be included in the Thuringan catagory the Hohenzollern/Droescher is yet another and let's not forget the Charnley Forest.
Edit; No idea of a grit rating but these would be considered finishing hones IMO.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
