    Default Beveling an edge

    Hi everyone,

I went to Wiki to see if there was any mention on "beveling" a blade. There was slight reference to it but NO details on how it's done - that I could find. I must be going blind!

I am looking at purchasing a "blade only" that's for sale and creating a nice usable razor in the end. The blade is from a Dubl Duck "Goldedge". It looks brand new but has an ever so slight rise on the blade at it's toe. At a glance it looks like it angles up thus making the edge appear uneven at the toe.

How does one get rid of that slight rise at the toe without taking too much metal away - and make that cutting edge FLAT again?

Any comments or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!
    ~Phil

a rise? does that mean the blade step up or are slightly rounded?
if its rounded you probably shouldnt try "correcting" it

note that step 1 is not recomended but actually using step 2 to straighten as well

Imagine a straight edge......then imagine that edge rising slightly at one side. That's how it looks. I'd include a picture but I don't possess the item - YET!

I am asking for future knowledge for this blade as well as other "projects" I might attempt.

Thanks for the link too. It's a great help! I AM going blind I guess!

Phil, I've moved this thread from the Workshop to Advanced Honing Topics as I think you'll get more to go with here. If you looked in the Wiki I assume you've read this here ? There is also the first part of this tutorial here. More later, gotta go to work.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

How do you use "chat" as I tried it the other day and somehow couldn't post. I looked for a send button but on my control panel there was none.

That's not funny, J .......the "send" button is the same as the "enter" button in my book.

Now, can you explain where "enter" is on the "SRP chat" control panel? Or are you saying that one just types their comment/question then presses their enter key on their keyboard? Never done it on SRP before - is why I ask.

If that's all it is I feel STUPID!!
