    Final outcome.
Nice small ura bevel as hoped for & acceptable size bevel on omote considering previous rust damage.

Only thing left is the shave test & that can wait till tomorrow. I need a drink

    You deserve a drink

Thanks for laying this all out there Oz, I don't know if many people can truly appreciate how much work actually went into doing this thread...

The razor came out wonderful, I am sure the shave will too

Watch it! stropping on the hand is Mastro Livi's party trick. Funnily enough that's how I was taught to finish off chisels and plane irons back in the day when men were men and sheep were frightened

    Tis a great thread.

But the shave, the shave. We can't hardly wait for the report.

To that I say CHEERS ! I sure didn't know how much work that was gonna be ... LOL.
Fingers X'd on the shave . I always seem to have to do some tweaking. Comes with the OCD I guess

And I thought the HHT was the only party trick round here

Thanx tbs. I know you're a fellow kamisori fan but the shave will have to wait till appropriate drinking time has passed

Well, I couldn't wait & had a midnight shave. I forced a close shave with no nicks or irritation but it still felt wrong.

I checked the edge again today & noticed the bevel was incomplete near the toe on the ura (back). I think this was from slight distortion due to the drop.
There may have been other areas not as obvious but this bit showed up easy on the m'scope. Some sparklies to right of pic also.

Went back to 5k HNK & then my 2 Asagi etc as before. 2nd pic shows ura bevel size has increased but looks all good & no sparklies.
Expecting next test to be a good 'un.

    Thumbs up Good thread

This is a very informative thread, OZ, and one of these days I will give the kamisori a try. Never used one and never honed one. Looks like a piece of cake to keep them flat on the hone......

    Keep up the good work.
