I seen enough to know the tang is bigger than the blade. Both probably just as sharp as the other .

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Yes, a little homework goes a long way to finding a serviceable first razor.

That particular piece wouldn't even be suitable as a letter opener. It isn't just worn into the shoulder, it's worn into the tang!

Now there is a thought to make something useful out of it, a posh folding snurdler. Something for the shaving enthusiast who has everything, almost.

It's re-listed at the same price. I hope no one knocks on that door if they want a usable razor.

VTG 1720 Crown Sword Straight Razor Germany | eBay

Now here's one I just bid on successfully. The pics aren't terrific, but I figure that is why the bids are low. I can see enough to believe the spine is not overly worn, and the description says no chips or cracks, so for 17$ I was willing to take a risk. The crack on the back scale to me is insignificant, since I can make a matching scale out of black horn, The decorative scale is what I liked.
I'll let you know what it looks like when I get it.
