Lone Ranger Straight? Legit?
JH Lone Ranger Owned Cool OLD Antique Robeson Rope Handle Straight Razor | eBay
This is pretty cool looking and they have 3 listed. But, is it likely that someone would keep canceled checks for something like a straight razor? And, the check for this one lists Pactel Cellular as to whom the check was written.
Kinda neat but always makes me wonder when you have all that provenance on board for something as relatively mundane/normal (... to the average person... to SRP Members, of course a str8 is cool enough to warrant keeping receipts/checks...) as a straight razor.

Saw that for sale a few weeks back. Guess it didnt sell. I think the check to Pactel is to confirm said actors signature.
Nice of them to leave the bank routing number for a hackeR to play with.
Looked again, the check is to sell the signature, with the razor.
Too bad noons ever heard of him.Last edited by souschefdude; 08-29-2013 at 11:54 PM.

Seems like they are popping up every 2 years or so... Or, the guy bought a BUNCH of them as well as the rest of the estate items like canceled checks. Pretty interesting... In WA if you buy storage lockers you have to give back personal paperwork, photographs and such. I wonder how this guy got all this stuff or if maybe laws are different in other places?
Yep... Would definitely not want my bank info/routing just plopped on the net like that.
I remember watching re-runs of The Lone Ranger as a kid but can't remember if any of the Actors ever used a straight razor on screen... That would be a cool razor to have if it exists.
From the other links it seems this particular Actor was filling in while another was in a contract dispute which may be why he is lesser known. ??

Thanked: 1184I got one but it was cheaper than the others I have seen him post on e-Bay. I don't use it. It's just a thing I am going to frame. People see it and think it's cool. Some of us grew up watching this guy so it brings back memories and starts conversations. The check thing is kinda of funky to me but I guess there is some value is in his signature. I would rather have 1 of John Wayne's hats but I can't afford that :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

When my Grandmother re-married my second Grandfather he had some pictures of a scene from 'The Cowboys' and when I asked him about it he explained they were touring during filming and got to meet John Wayne and then got to be in the movie during the scene right before they leave for the cattle drive where the families are driving their wagons away... He got to drive one of the wagons. I am a huge John Wayne fan so was really impressed. Having John Wayne's hat or boots or both... Yeah, that would be cool... Would be a tough call whether to simply display or once in awhile wear them. After moving to WA I've heard a lot of stories of people that got to have coffee or meet him in one way or another as I guess he was an avid Firsherman/Boat Guy and would just have fun all over this state.
Definitely miss the older style Westerns... Sometimes the new ones are good but usually not in the same way as the older ones.

Thanked: 631I saw those also. JH was a temporary fill in for Clayton Moore according to what I googled. Supposedly it is his agent that is selling them for his estate. They come with certificate of authenticity. I would investigate a little further. I would be interested if they were from Clayton Moore. As for keeping checks for purchases. At one time that was your receipt for the purchase. I had stacks of cancelled checks for income tax at one time, so it is possible.

They are from John Hart who was a collector of Western memorabilia. He didn't use them. He was a stand in for Clayton Moore for 1 season when Moore opted out during a pay dispute. The producers figured stick a mask on someone and put him on a white horse and have an Indian companion and he's the Lone Ranger. They found out quick the fans didn't buy it and gave Moore what he wanted. Hart was a long time actor and stunt man. If you remember the old Hawkeye series from the 50s he starred in that with Lon Chaney Jr.
