Ebay Razors from Japan
What's the deal on all the lovely (and pricey) German razors selling on Ebay out of Japan?

Thanked: 734The prices are high to be sure. But not everything he sells is over priced. Say you want a nice, mint Friodur. You can sit back and watch the classifieds here for the right one to come along or just go right to a place that has one waiting. If you pick and choose correctly, you'll find that some of them are not going for much more than you would pay anywhere else. Others ones......I have no idea where the price is coming from they are so high. Don't dismiss the whole lot. I bought my favorite Friodur from him at a price that I considered fair. And it was damn near NOS. The condition was flawless. But did I snag it for $20 in a bargain of a deal? No. If you cherry pick what he's offering, you might find a few fair deals in there.

I have no idea where his group picks up some very fine German and other maker's razors and I don't really care. Japannippon has an excellent reputation as a seller and gives accurate descriptions of the goods he offers. I think some of his straights are way overpriced but that is just my opinion. I have purchased some of his buy it now straights and been quite happy with the razor. He ships products safely and quickly.

While I will not discuss exact price(a no-no here)
I have been looking over some of the razors on the bay lately and some of these are VERY hard to find. I own some of them and consider them among my fave blades. Not just the ones from japan. The prices are high but look at blades being made today. Very expensive from custom makers. Now factor in that some of these blades will never be made again. They are priceless. How many times will you have to find and own a Henckles 250th anniversary str8? I could not expect to part with one in mint condition cheaply.
As always YMMV, but IMHO I get what I pay for.Last edited by Str8Shooter; 09-04-2013 at 08:11 PM.
