Thanked: 9Unused Strop score
Well, I was glad to win this
I know at least one person from SRP was very interested but didn't bid against me - BIG THANK YOU! to him and any others of whom I might not be aware.
If it's indeed unused and the leather is in good condition I'd be very pleased.
Cheers
Ivo

Very cool, and it'll pair up well with a certain Sta-sharp razor that sold recently

Thanked: 55Congratulations, I had noticed that one too. I don't want to rain on your parade but I wouldn't expect much. I have an identical one that was also never used, wrapped in it's original paper as well. It looks great but the problem with these old unused strops is that they are unused and thus uncared for. The leather becomes stiff and even stretched in some cases because they are laid down in a particular way or stored laying on top of something causing a slight bow. They become dried out because they weren't dressed regularly, or even at all. Over a period of about 60 to 70 years it's almost impossible for these to retain their flexibilty let alone their draw, no matter how good the product is. Often the stropping leather develops stretch marks where the leather has been stretched a bit over time and then forms a raised line or area when one attempts to put it back in it's original shape.
I suppose something can be done with it to restore it but I'm not practiced enough to restore something so nice looking without substantially altering it's appearance. Hopefully someone here can offer some help. I'll be listening if they do.
Regards,
EL

Ivo, that´s a pimp score. You can use the original holes to re-stitch it.
