I never had experience with buying straight razors. On eBay.
Sometimes you pay large for a razor you want, sometimes, you log on, and just newly listed by someone who doesn't really understand razors, lists a great condition W&B 7/8 Celebrated Hollow Ground Chopper, with original coffin box, for a buy it now price of $120, from within your own country, one province away, like that exact one I got the other day...it's being cleaned up and rescaled as we speak...great find.

So it doesn't hurt to look, cause you never know:

man, that is pristine for a W&B, I'd have easily gone triple that price

Yes, just pm'd Boxertim about what I thought it would go for....couldn't believe it, was just listed, in Montreal, Buy It Now, for $120...figured I'd it was a misprint or it would never arrive, or it would be in terrible shape, arrived two days later, it's off at Val's of TheGentlemansDen for a clean, honing and rescaling...he was blown away, couldn't believe I got it for that price.

Will post pics when I get it, rescaled in dark horn and all cleaned up...I've got two other big W&B 9/8 blades and they are very heavy, this 7/8 really surprised me at how hefty it was...quite a piece of Sheffield steel!!!

Guess my E-Bay mojo is used up for the next year....

But well, i'm working on a Medium Sized Hollow Ground (MSHG) just now, Scales were trash but blade is working nicely. Learning how to refresh a smiling blade. Gotta make scales too.
