Thread: Bismark....

Hey bongo, another nice score I see. It looks like your RAD has you under control.
Let me add to the pile of razor porn. Clockwise from bottom right is my only "real" Bismarck, a sweet little 5/8 extra hollow Barber's Pride. Next is a 1950's 2 Bismark made not long after Dovo bought the name from the defunct Bismarck Razor Works. I scored two of them with the translucent red three pin scales that had the warping problem. I straightened them, traded one away, and within two months the one I saved started warping again. I gave up and put it into lacewood as shown. Above that is a 1226850 in palisander (rosewood).. they have no name, just a number. It's ground on the same blank as the current production Bismarck, just without the decoration and with a plan jane point. It shaves just as well as its fancy sister.



Finally, there's one of those Boker extra hollow Silver Steel's that you and Phrank were lusting after. It too is an outstanding shaver. I am told that they are no longer in production though they may return in the future. There are still some available here and there scaled in faux tortoise but it would seem that the white micarta ones are gone. (If you do decide to settle for the tortoise model, Optics Planet has far and away the best price though it will ship with the factory edge.)

You are not alone in your RAD delirium.. now I'm tempted by that ebony one that Border277 posted. That is sweet too.
