Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this razor.
There must be a number of reasons why the price would be in the thousand dollar range. $1,149.99
    Shave ready ?????

Up for sale is an incredibly rare C.V. Heljestrand MK134. This is a truly once in a lifetime opportunity.

To the extent of my knowledge, this is the largest heljestrand ever made, and is quite hefty. The blade measures approximately 2.48-2.50 cm deep, or approximately between 15/16 and 8/8 inches. The scales are made out of a very thick natural material. They are white, with some slight yellowing towards the bottom, which I have tried to capture in the photos.

This is a vintage razor, and has been gently used. It has been very lightly polished, but still retains some water spots and slight discolorations on the blade.
This razor is shave ready to my standards, but since everyones standards are different it is best advertised as not shave ready.

This truly is a rare razor which you may never see for sale again. Do not miss your chance to own this fantastic and phenomenal shaver. It truly is the crown jewel in any collection.

I will not under any circumstance ship this razor out of the USA, so please do not ask
    .

    Damn,...I guess I don't qualify??

Lottsa Bux for you and me, and for a collector probably nothing at all. The fancy Swedes are hot for the last few months.
The Swedes of Eskiltuna are great razors and the Swedes furnished their steel to all of Europe through WWII and much to this day.
They made many of their razors with the nicest scale materials available to them. A guy has to have something nice when everything else is white. Watch for one with one piece per side solid MOP scales..then you have a really nice rare collectors' item...and a good shaver.

It's gotta be special kind of collector. I think collectors tend to want everything on a razor to be original and on this one the scales are recently made to follow the form of the heljestrand scales, but they are not original.

Nice razors though, I have a similar one, but a bit narrower (very lucky for me because I like them at 6/8) - Heljestrand, C V "Unspecified" 13/16 - Straight Razor Place Wiki. It may have come from the same blanks because it's noticeably longer than my other Heljestrands like mk32s and mk33s.

Wow, I was hoping I would get some background info on this razor, perhaps enough to develop an appreciation for the price tag.
    Thank you Geeaer and gugi.

The scales are most likely recreated out of actual ivory…hence, the refusal to ship outside of the States.

To me the scales look a bit larger for the razor. One thing that doesn't seem to for is that usually ivory scales ate reserved for the gold washed razors or at least razors that are a bit more ornate.

For the much of the European and Western market you are probably correct. The very nice mid 1800's Rodgers and other Sheffield's were similar in that many had thin ivory scales and no fancywork excepting the really over the top sets..
The Swedes seem to be similar. They seem to like a minimalist use of flash but a maximum of form follows function and simplicity... I have seen no razors by them with gold wash but a few in Ivory and bone and one in solid MOP.
