I used this problem in a gamble on my first Ebay razor which was my first straight. The pics were close to professional quality, but in one pic the seller positioned the blade in a way that would have made someone swear the blade was shortened. No one questioned it and the price remained very low for an excellent Red Imp.

Most Sellers with those type of pictures just don't understand what's important to a buyer.

You could always send a note asking for measurements our better pics. You might even include in the note that the item will probably sell for more if the pics are taken with the camera as square to the blade as possible.

On a double hollow I try to pay attention to the edge in relation to the raised belly of the blade.
Also, if there is more wear at one end of the blade there is usually also more wear on that end of the spine.

There's a free program that's very powerful for image analysis called ImageJ. I know you can measure all sorts of things like distance and angle, not sure but you might be able to bias measurements to specified image distortion angles.

Contact the seller through eBay and let them know you're interested but need another picture to evaluate the merchandise, tell them what you need and they can update the photos in the sale. Has worked for me.

I've done this a few times with potential purchases on eBay etc. Usually the seller will provide and if they don't then I will avoid.
Always best to remember that you are the buyer and a seller should cater to your questions…if they don't, then avoiding may save you $$$ and grievance.
