Looks really rough.

Is something like this restore able? Could it ever be made shave ready?

it's a gamble with pretty bad odds - look at the rust on the edge, both sides the spots are in the same place, so it may be rusted all through and be complete junk.

even best case scenario it's not worth for practically everybody, but occasionally there's an odd bidder who either has no idea what they are doing, or don't care too much and is paying just for the usmc stamp regardless of anything else.

I'd take the gamble...but only if it were at half the price it is now. Not worth that much IMO.

The only thing this razor got going is the USMC stamp without that it sells for $10 bucks.

Maybe it is for someone like those fancy scale collectors. The blade is completely secondary. In this case I'd bet it is an ex-marine who isn't a straight razor shaver, so the edge is inconsequential. He bought it for the tang stamp.

The stamp is what makes it rare, so of course it's what makes it worth more than a mass produced factory Clauss. Marines are notoriously hard on things, and customizing the things they aren't rough on. So the fact that these razors still exist is a miracle :-) We are also suckers for Corps history, so when these do pop up they are purchased and remain in the hands of their new owner. On top of all this, they are great shavers. I love mine and would have paid a lot more for it than I did.
