Thanked: 3227Ya see, that is the hardest part of doing that resto is to get that crack to come out just right. They are tricky little boogers that stubbornly resist being fully restored.

Thanked: 40Can a razor still be "shave ready" with a hairline crack going all the way to the shaving edge? Looking at the Ebay closeups, it looks like the crack disrupts the consistency of the bevel. How could that be "shave ready"?

Thanked: 3227Short answer, no.
Oddly enough I have had to retire 2 razors that I had been shaving with because I discovered small cracks in their blades while touching them up on the hones. It is quite possible I had been shaving with them while they were cracked so it may be possible to shave with a razor with a cracked edge. I would not knowingly do so though.
