Default 5 x Vintage cut throat straight razor - coupe-chou

Five vintage straights for $40 US, what are the opinions on these? I hit the BIN button immediately, they look in decent shape, never heard of any of the brands, except the name, "Le Grelot" on the frameback, but not the manufacturer? Any ideas?

I don't know Phrank, but it looks like you got the Clap with that lot

Yes, looks like an 80 dose according to the number, looks like it's going to be a job for a heavy dose of Barbicide!

Added: I grabbed them to practice cleaning them up and some blades to learn / practice honing on.

nice haul I think you might need to get rid of the orange scales... that blade is not looking healthy otherwise, it looks like you stole some good razor, leaving some patina on might be the best solution.

    enjoy,

You will be honing your own in no time Phrank. Awesome grab.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Looks like a nice score. Looking forward to seeing some more pics when you get them in hand.

Yes, but they're doomed...doomed to be experimented on in learning to hone them!

I don't think that is a bad thing. Everyone that hones had to learn on something. Quality steel with no geometry issues will make the learning faster and more direct. That means less razor torture and a happier Phrank. Couple that with the low up front cost of material and it looks like we have a BINGO
