You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that we're a bunch of enablers on here...

I purchased the Mitchell Hone Strop two days ago for $39 and change at:
    ROSS CUTLERY
    324 South Broadway
    Los Angeles, CA 90013
    (213) 626-1897

Although it was manufactured in 1920's the strop is brand new and has never been used. The owner of the shop is a fellow named Allen and he purchased about 100 of them that he found in a Flea Market Sale about a year ago. It is a single piece of linen with a mild abrasive on one side. I have used the strop for the last two days using only about 20 strokes per side on the finishing side and have received the best shave ever and that is saying something since I have been shaving with a straight razor for about 57 years. I don't think you will ever need to use a leather strop again. Also, something else I have learned recently and that is to use a fair amount of pressure while stropping which goes against the standard advice out there to use only the weight of the razor. Make sure the strop is held tight. Also, keep the razor almost flat on your face. I have some other thoughts on honing which I will share later if anyone is interested.
