Default Faith in Humanity Restored - Thank You fellow eBay-ers...

WARNING - It's late, and I may be only slightly lucid as I write this:

I can not criticize a seller in the free market from trying to maximize his or her profit. But the market is driven by the whim of the masses, and masses are more noted for torch lighting, looting, urinating in public, hysteria, lynchings, and other less sundry forms of civil disobedience, and less for solid economic judgement. And just as a seller has the right to price his wares for sale at a rate the market will bear (or not), I have the right to comment on terms of the sales offer.

If you are the seller of the less than perfect (or even less than very good...it's hard to say, the pictures were probably not the seller's best effort), Dubl Duck Lifetime razor which failed to sell last night for a reserve price north of the high bid of $300, my condolences and I wish you better luck in the future. How much north? Who knows but the seller, though the BIN price was $750.

If you are one of the bidders who resisted the temptation to shell out a disproportionate sum of cash for a tired and flawed razor only because it has a desirable status as a collector's piece, I personally thank you for contributing to this small victory in the struggle against blindly overpaying for highly collectible razors.

Make no mistake, had the razor been minty, I would have possibly lost consciousness from the force of gravity acting upon my Vagas nerve in the race to smash the "Buy It Now" button. I will not pretend that I'm such a savvy shopper that I won't shell out ridiculous sums (in the opinion of normal people ) for a razor in my cross-hairs on principle.

Please do not mistake this diatribe as a dirty hippy anti-capitalist seller bash; It's not. I love Ayn Rand I have mostly, complete faith in lassez-faire capitalism (so long as the consumer is not a raving lunatic). It's simply a comment on our tendency to loose our minds a little when certain shineys fall into our field of vision.

But last night, good judgement prevailed, and I am at peace with the world. Thank You for this, fellow RADiacs. Thank You.

He bought that razor last month for $182.95 & 5.80 shipping. I don't mind paying for something that is restored or almost restored but that one still needs a bunch of work.

    Just My Opinion...
Geezer, Martin103 and Wullie like this.
