Thanked: 44made a bit of a clanger
I came across this "old razor" and got a bit exited, I thought I'd struck gold with an over looked minter. The thing looks brand new !! Well turns out that is pretty much what it is
I have bid on the item and I think I do have a good case of incorrect item description but I am wondering if its worth just keeping if I do win ?

Thanked: 129Price looks ok to me, you're right though it's definitely not old. If you get it hone it up and see how it shaves, if you don't like it you can always put it back on eBay. I doubt you'd lose money.

It's a Geisen and Forstoff Timor. A very good Solingen razor. It's not new. Prolly 40 years old or so.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Description looks faithful to pics. Don't forget, people didn't just abruptly stop making straights. Just because it's a newer production doesn't mean it's necessarily lower quality.

Thanked: 44I thought it was new new, like the last few years new
On the box it says "Timor blue steel 150" and it seems you can buy a brand new 150 today.
Its just a bit confusing but if it is 40 odd years old I would be as happy chappy

Thanked: 39Dude, it's £9 (so far) and I guarantee the price climbs before the end of the auction - you're in the clear.

The new Timor production has a bad rep. The older ones, such as this example, are very good.
I don't know if someone bought the name and started new production or exactly when it started, perhaps someone will know.
For sure that one is from the sixties. If you want a good blade, bid on it!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 884I've got one just like it. It shaves beautifully.
Timors of that era are great razors. As Sharpton said, the new production razors are reported to have issues.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.
