    THANKS!
Thats always been a major concern to me.Unless I new that a true pro did the resto,I stay away from those shiney blades.

The big issue is those high speed dremels, theyll leave a wavy blade on a hollow ground faster than you can bat an eye. Ive not buffed a blade since that incident, sandpaper and hard labor is the only way to go.

So you think they could over heat the steel and affect the temper and ability to hold an edge? I am very new to this and there are lots of temptations. I sort of feel as you do that it might be wise to get a rusty old thing and have a real pro restore it for you.

    Thanks!

    +1!

I've seen knife blades with all the temper cooked out of them. They were nice and shiny though.

Agreed - I remember asking Valery if he used any power tools, like a dremel, and he flat out said never. He said the potential for damaging the blade was to high, and that he just preferred to do everything by hand.

Do you think this will sell? Would surprise me, but stranger things have happened.

P;T. Barnum is reputed to have said,"There's one born every minute, and two to take him." That said, I don't think so.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
