How did she measure?
A bit ago I won an auction on a " 1 inch wide Geo Wostenholm, bone handled razor". I finally got it in the mail today and excitedly opened it to see what I would have to work with when I finally get moved.
The "bone" handles were badly outgassed (past tense) celluloid. holes all the way through. when I asked how wide the razor was I provided clear, explicit, easy to understand instructions referencing pictures, on how to measure the width of the blade.
I'm curious what kind of scale she used to measure the width.

The scales are a little over 1/2 at the widest.
She had sent me pictures of the razor and I took one specific picture, and referenced it, explaining each part, tang, spine, cutting edge, tip heel, scales/handles, pivot. Then asked her to measure and gave easy to follow instructions. That's when she said it was 1 inch wide, and then posted her answer on the auction for others to read. no one had bid on it before then and then several bid on it after that. could be coincidence but I don't think so.
I've emailed her and told her I feel the blade is worth restoration but I'd like a partial refund based on the mis-information. I haven't heard from her yet. Most sellers go nuts when they're called on this kind of stuff.
We'll see what happens.
