    Default Filarmonicas

I'm a huge fan of Fily 14's (particularly when they're honed by Noah), but I've noticed they aren't flying off the shelves or commanding the big bucks as they were just a short time ago, whereas W&B's seem always to be hot. Do Fily's run hot and cold over time?

Prices for razors are like the stock market, sometimes they are up and sometimes they are down. All that for no discernible reason.

Everything runs hot and cold. 10 years ago cigars were HOT! Now they simmered down a bit. Anything is possible though. Buying shave gear for "investment" is a losing proposition IMO. Unless you bought a gross of NOS labelled yellow greens...... And even those look like they arent selling at the CRAZY prices of a couple months ago.

Frankly who will spend that kind of money on ~12k performing natural stone, when 20k Suehiro beats out all competition synthetic and natural. If one is looking for practicality that is.

Double Duck one week, Puma's the next, Wade and Butcher, Filarmonica...agree with BobH 100%.

A year ago you couldn't find a DD without selling a kidney or a piece of your liver...I was busy buying W&B's at the time because I like them. They weren't nearly as highly priced as they are now. But in a couple of months, the market will turn again and there will be a new flavor of the month...some will always be there, just at different demand levels.

Funny you should mention the Filly's...that's the blade I've been very interested in the last several months...they are outstanding razors...the #14 I purchased from Cobre was outstanding...it felt like the blade literally stuck to my face as it shaved....loudly.

I think the key here is to collect what you like, in a couple of months, W&B's will be yesterday's news, and I can go back to happily trying to find the one's I like...hopefully soon the DD's will come back as the rage and I can transform them into a nice 9/8 W&B spike point!

Yea, buy something because you like it not because it is the it thing at the moment. That does it for me.

I would amend that to "Buy what you like BUT at a price you can afford". Meaning, don't go bid happy over a razor you like with no regard to how high that bid is getting.

I agree completely, just a little surprised to see Carlos's 2 Filis survive overnight in the classifieds.

That may be true, but in most cases it is not the use value, but the perceived value and rarity that drives the price. As was said, no rhyme nor reason.
