Picked up another J.Barber with square and compasses
I was just idly browsing ebay when I found this baby.
Both the mark and the words 'patented tempered steel' indicate that this should be a John Barber. It is in very good shape for a blade that age.
It had a 7$ bid with 4 hours left to go. I did a couple of 1$ increments to see where the bidder's max lay. After 4 bids I was the high bidder at 10.5$.
I did not increase my max after that.
When I bid on ebay, I want to make a 'steal' or not have it. I Guess I got a steal this time.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Incidentally, my 0.99$ J.Barber arrived yesterday.
Other than the smile (which I like) and the surface rust (which is not deep) the blade itself is in good condition. No frown, honewear almost invisible, and only a couple of tiny nicks in the edge.
Ok the scales are bakelite or celluloid, but whatever.
As for showing off...
well I can't dazzle you guys with fancy razors or rare stones, so I'll have to be the one who buys rusty razors and discovers the occasional gem.

A 7 day set would be nice. I already have a 5/8 and the new JB is a 6/8.now to find a 7/8...
