    Default Big, expensive W&B FBU

Too expensive for me, but the pics provide a nice "study" of the original pins and washers of that era.

I found one of those almost a year ago, was also told it was untouched and all original and the pins and scales look identical, and the above pic leads me to believe it is, good to know... W&B 9/8 FBU:

I also saw that one when it was listed. The price they want is ridiculous. It has so much hone wear, and they want more than what you can spend on one that is in great shape. If you keep looking and are persistent you can get those big blades at a reasonable price. Some of my best were purchased cheap either because the pictures were few and blurry (risky) or because they were selling a couple of crappy razors with a big old FBU mixed in. Keep your eyes peeled and you will get lucky. I was scanning the other day and a very similar razor in very, very good condition was there with a BIN of 60$. By the time i clicked on it it was sold!

Yes, you're absolutely right. I've got quite a few from blurry pics, alleged damaged blades, or just blades that show up without a lot of knowledge behind them. The W&B FBU I posted above was a BIN on eBay from a seller locally, went for a song and arrived in three days...was basically untouched.

You can find em if you look....

Even the most expensive tool steel razors I've made so far, with the whipped cream and cherry on top options and a side dish of awesome, were less than 600$
With that in mind, it seems ludicrous that anyone would pay 600$ for a W&B with bad honewear and broken scales.

Bruno, you know there's a fool born every minute of the day and night and in uninformed fashion believes the first lies told and pops for the ridiculous price and makes it harder for the rest of us to obtain a big W&B or whatever.

To take hilarity to the next level, one could ponder the meaning of "FBU" for a moment. One possible explanation (soon to be ridiculed and contended by the proud owners of these Moria mine forged marvels) would be that they were not meant to be wielded by users but a third party. But that is neither here nor there, because reasons.
