Thanked: 458Medallion Taurino non-filly?
I just spotted this on ebay (which equates to I just bought it), a #14 medallion taurino, but marked only jose monserrat pou, no filarmonica.
Stuck my neck out a little buying it for $200, but I have an especial #14 that I refurbished partially, and it's like a freak show shaver - just a really big razor in every dimension, but without being heavy and awkward.
Are these filly razors? (not that it makes much of a difference, I guess)

This one has a little spine wear, and it looks like 1/16th or so has been used off of the razor, but still in pretty good shape.Last edited by DaveW; 12-05-2014 at 03:00 PM.

Thanked: 4826Looks good to me, but I'm no Filli expert. I would expect that this predates the fill line, however see previous statement. I think it will be a fine shaver. I find it odd that he made such great looking blade but the gawdy and cheap looking scales are a sad match.

Thanked: 458the especial that I have is a wonderfully hollow ground blade, rings like a bell when you strop it and very loud when shaving.....
..and it has cheap white scales on it, too.

Yes is a Filarmonica razor. Medallion Taurino is on of a special series.
I think that is part of the latest productions seen the type of handle"Consider well the seed that gave your birth: you were not made to lives as brutes, but to following virtue and knoweledge"
Dante's The Divine Comedy:Inferno XXVI.

Thanked: 458I figured it might be later, at least compared to some of the earlier filly stuff. the grind appears to be kind of lazily done, given how the spine wear is uneven. I'll get an idea of how much of the uneven bevel is due to grind vs. honing when I get it. If it needs to be finished, I'll have to think about whether or not I'm keeping it. If I am, then I will probably correct the grind.
