Thanked: 25Won a Tanaka Kamisori!
Won this puppy on Ebay tonight!! I have several of the Tanaka kitchen knives from the inexpensive Blue #2 Kurouchi series, Blue Sekiso Damascus and the R2 Damascus line, so I decided I wasn't gonna let this Kamisori by my favorite Japanese Kitchen Knife family get away from me! Max bid I set at $250.00
Japanese Straight Razor Wood Grain Finish 50mm Made by Kazuyuki Tanaka | eBay
Thinking this is definetly going to Glen for honing as well as a few others while I work on practicing on my cheaper SR's!

Looks good. I have a Tanaka kurouchi nakiri for the kitchen. Great inexpensive workhorse.
I have a Kobayashi kamisori. I'm guessing it's from the knifemaker .The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 228Very nice and I think you got it for a good price. I just shaved with a kamisori for the 2nd time and it was interesting to say the least. Not sure about it yet. Very close though it was a small blade so a bit challenging. Smooth shaves with your new kamisori.

Nice find, and at a pretty good price.
I really like the design. I just might have to look for one for myself to add to my Iwasaki and Takahashi.
Cheers and enjoy.Rule #32 – Enjoy the Little Things

Thanked: 25Yeah, I have the Tanaka KU Nakiri as well Sekiso 165mm petty, 165mm Nakiri, 240mm Gyuto, Kurouchi Nakiri and 210mm gyuto and R2 Wa Damascus 240mm gyuto.
CKTG sometimes has the Tanaka's in stock, but they have been out for a while, so I picked up a Henkotsu recently in Blue #2. My neck hair grows in weird/different directions, so the shorter blade than a normal SR sometimes works better with those pesky neck hairs.

Another Tanaka user here. Tanaka R2 Ironwood series 165mm Nakiri, Santoku, and the R2 210mm Wa Gyuto. Others brands are the Shigefusa Kurouchi Santoku 165mm, Takayuki Damascus 80mm Petty, Kohetsu Aogami Super 210 Gyuto, Kurosaki 240mm R2 Wa Gyuto, Masamoto Honesuki VG10 145mm Boning knife, and I think that's it.... ?
Dang things are like potato chips....you just can't stop with one!!
Congrats on the Tanaka Kamisori....hope you really like it.
