    Thanks for pointing that out. I missed it when I was looking through those lots.

    So Morphy's thinks it's a display razor. They might be right. It's hard to imagine what else it would be. But I'm not entirely convinced. Typically display razors are prominently branded with their maker's name or trademarks -- after all, their purpose is essentially advertising. Why would you make a piece to showcase your work, then leave it unbranded?

    Strange, strange.

    the steel itself doesn't look to me to be similar to razor steel, at least it's not finished as such. It looks like decoration only, and it's got a blunt rounded bevel on it around the tip, no proper bevel as a cutler would put on it when making it if it was intended for use.

    A filarmonica 14 is awkward enough to shave with, anyway. There's no need to go to the level of the thing in the picture.
